Ilim College

The Brief

As the school was evolving, so too did its need for a website that better reflected its brand, values, offerings, and community. The previous site had grown over time, content was drawn from various sources, including older brochures, and lacked a unified voice. Some pages felt formal, others casual, and key information was often buried or inconsistent. The website often felt like it was written by 5 different people, all with their own source material to reference.

The goal was clear: create a website that was easy to navigate, aligned with the Ilim College brand, and spoke in one consistent, confident voice.

My Involvement

I started by creating a full Style Guide to set the tone, covering everything from sentence structure to Islamic terminology, so the entire site would feel cohesive. collaborating with the Islamic Studies leadership to help pin point every key Islamic vocabulary used across all 5 campuses.

Then came the heavy lifting. Rewriting every page from scratch or thoroughly editing outdated content pulled from legacy brochures. I ensured every line was web-friendly, scannable, and aligned with SEO best practices, working alongside an SEO agency to tighten keyword targeting and improve site performance.

I also noticed a missed opportunity, the website blog segment. It was barely used, so I introduced a content strategy aimed at what Muslim parents were actually searching for online. Alternative conversations to help bridge the gap between prospective Muslim parents and the College. Information that was practical, faith-aligned, and deeply relevant.

Creative Approach

The focus was on simplicity, clarity, and usability. I stripped back dense, clunky copy and replaced it with clean, confident language that reflected Ilim’s values, without sounding preachy or stiff.

Every page was built with the user in mind: what do parents need to know? in what order? and how do we guide them there with confidence?

I made sure key pages answered real questions parents had, and that every section of the site flowed logically, from the homepage all the way to enrolments. Everything had to feel intentional and easy. And it does.

The result is a site that doesn’t just look the part, it reads like it belongs.
